My name is Angela Stewart and I am the creator of The Basic Beauty Academy.
I am a 54 year old wife and mother of 2 wonderful young ladies. I used to work in the Civil Service but after 10 years in the office I had an opportunity to swap my pen for a makeup brush! That is another story and one day I will share it :D
My Story
I am a pro makeup artist, with experience in TV, Film and Editorial covering both makeup and hair, with Afro Hair being a speciality and have worked in the industry since 2000.
I have a passion for teaching and whenever I'm working with a client, I've found myself describing what I'm doing, as I'm doing it.
I realised that what came easily to me because of my artistic background, was not so obvious to others when it came to makeup and hair styling. That also goes for Natural Afro Hair.
Having taught myself how to braid, cornrow and more importantly, wash and unravel - WITHOUT PAIN - I realised how many Black and Mixed Raced people suffered because of the lack of basic skills when it came to understanding how Afro hair 'worked'.
And so, the Basic Beauty Academy was born.
A way to interface with normal people who simply wanted a bite-sized introduction to Basic makeup, Vintage Makeup and hair styling and Afro Hair Care for Beginners.
